Intimate Joshua Tree Wedding

So many emotions filled this day. I can’t really even put what I felt, what they felt, into words. But I’ll start with this, there is a gratefulness I feel when looking through these images. A lot of weddings that I have shot have turned into a blur, but I remember this day so vividly. I remember two nights before the wedding, I was outside on the back porch of the Airbnb… I had my camera and my tripod beside me and I was taking photos of the stars. I just remember lying there for 10 minutes in deep thought over the stars and how everything in this life comes together and the way everything is aligned. I’ve known Jamie since I was a child, and how crazy is it that I now have the privilege of shooting her wedding and getting to tell a glimpse of her love story through these images.
These two are both so talented- Jamie is a makeup artist and John is a musician. They were originally planning a big wedding and didn’t seem so thrilled about it, so I had a chat with them about doing what they wanted. They decided they both wanted something intimate, and different for their wedding day, so they took their closest friends and family out to Joshua Tree- a place that they felt a pull to. I love that they did exactly what they wanted, and that’s how it should be. At the end of the day, the stuff doesn’t matter, it’s who you love, and it’s who you’re with. They had their ceremony inside of Joshua Tree National Park, and then had dinner and dancing afterwards at the cutest airbnb.
I read a quote the other day and it reminds me of these two. “Everywhere that you aren’t is nowhere at all. And I would like to spend my time here, trying my best to make you laugh and feel loved.” Jamie and John belong to each other. You can feel it in their presence, you can see it in the way they look at each other, you can hear it in the way they speak to each other. Their souls have belonged to each other for a thousand lifetimes. Will cherish you both, always.
